This site collects as little personal data as possible. No tracking services, analytics tools, advertising, or social media plugins are used. There are no user accounts.
Hosted on a server at Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany). The following data is automatically stored in server log files on each request:
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Access timestamp | Troubleshooting, server operation | 14 days |
| Requested URL | Troubleshooting, server operation | 14 days |
| HTTP status code | Malfunction detection | 14 days |
| Browser identifier (User-Agent) | Compatibility analysis | 14 days |
IP addresses are not stored. The reverse proxy only logs internal connection data (127.0.0.1). The visitor's actual IP address is neither written to log files nor stored in any other way.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in security and stable server operation). Log files are deleted automatically after 14 days (log rotation).
When you upload RNA sequences for analysis, they are temporarily stored on the server to perform the analysis and display the results.
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Uploaded RNA sequences | Performing the analysis | 30 days |
| Analysis results (structures, plots) | Result retrieval | 30 days |
Uploaded sequences and results are deleted automatically after 30 days. No association with individuals is made — data is stored under a random session ID (UUID).
Note: RNA sequences may qualify as genetic data under Art. 9 GDPR (special categories). By uploading, you consent to the temporary processing (Art. 6(1)(a), Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw this consent at any time.
When using RNA2Sound, RNA sequences are processed entirely in your browser (client-side). No sequence data is transmitted to the server. Audio generation runs locally via the Web Audio API.
RNA2Sound relies on the live-coding audio library Strudel.js, which is
loaded from the public CDN unpkg.com (specifically
https://unpkg.com/@strudel/web@1.3.0). When this resource is loaded, your
IP address is transmitted to the CDN operator. This is technically necessary for the
audio functionality.
Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the audio functionality). All other resources (fonts, CSS, images, samples) are loaded locally from this server.
This site does not use tracking cookies. The ViroidVisualizer uses a technically necessary session cookie to associate analysis results with your browser. This cookie is deleted when you close the browser.
Personal data is not sold, rented or shared with third parties unless required by law.
